Indias Dairy Sector Contributes 13 to Global Milk Output

India accounts for 13% of global milk production, contributing 30.23% to agricultural GVA and 5.5% to the national economy, reaffirming the livestock sector’s role as the backbone of rural growth and nutritional security.

Addressing the 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and 66th National Symposium of the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association of India (CLFMA), Chairman Divya Kumar Gulati said:

“With robust policies, modern cold-chain infrastructure, and innovation, India can evolve from the world’s largest producer to a global export powerhouse. Initiatives like Export Oriented Zones (EOZs) and a proposed Livestock Export & Domestic Development Authority are designed to unlock competitiveness and new opportunities.”

The two-day event, themed “Animal Agriculture in India – The Way Forward,” gathered policymakers, academicians, and industry leaders to chart the future of dairy, livestock, poultry, and aquaculture.

Hon’ble Minister Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, who inaugurated the symposium, remarked,

“The livestock and fisheries sectors are living examples of rural India’s resilience.”
