Bhubaneswar, August 20, 2025 —
In a move aimed at bridging the gap between policy and ground-level execution, the Odisha Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment has made regular field visits mandatory for senior officers.
The directive, issued by Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, stresses the need for a hands-on approach to make schemes more farmer-centric and responsive to real challenges.
Under the new guidelines, senior officials—including Directors, Additional Directors, Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, and scheme officers—must visit fields across districts and blocks to review implementation, interact with farmers, and assess obstacles firsthand. Officers are required to submit concise reports within a week of their visits.
To ensure systematic monitoring, Heads of Directorates will prepare monthly tour calendars, giving priority to aspirational blocks and vulnerable regions. The initiative is designed to improve accountability and enhance coordination between farmers and government officials.
“This is a pivotal step toward making our schemes truly farmer-centric,” said Dr. Padhee. “By engaging directly with farmers, our officers can identify bottlenecks and deliver solutions that make a real difference.”
With agriculture remaining a cornerstone of Odisha’s economy, the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to empowering farmers and ensuring sustainable growth at the grassroots level.
