River Valley Project!
Objectives
- To prevent soil erosion in catchment areas of multipurpose reservoirs, thereby reducing silt deposition.
- To maintain the quality of land in catchment areas through effective watershed management.
- To improve the soil quality and moisture retention in watershed regions.
Funding Source
The funding is split between the Central Government (60%) and the State Government (40%).
Subsidies and Benefits
- For soil conservation activities on community lands, a 100% subsidy is provided.
- For activities on individual farmers’ lands, a 50% subsidy is provided.
Project Area
The targeted regions are the South Pennaiyar and Mettur catchment areas located in Krishnagiri and Erode districts.

- Stream maintenance works
- Construction of water harvesting structures
- Land improvement works
Eligibility
All farmers selected from the South Pennaiyar and Mettur catchment areas are eligible.

Farmers may contact the Assistant Agricultural Engineer from the Agricultural Engineering Department in their respective revenue division.
